This is a public installation of fabric works, selected by curator Richard Orjis from studio exhibition the Harmonic Conquest of Space (Feb. 2013). This title comes from text written in 1968, by NZ writer Bruce Cathie (on the electromagnetic grid system of the earth, combining new age thinking with mathematics). The fabric works themselves are based on crystalline structures; grid patterns loosely relate to scientific diagrams and crystal healing. Fabrics are hand-dyed with water collected from local sites. The Grounded Festival celebrated community & sustainability in an innovative and holistic way, combining Art/ design works in a sculpture walk and workshops within the community of South Auckland. Eight artists, including myself Judy Darragh, Melanie Himiona and Tiffiny Singh installed work into Ōtara Creek Reserve park to transform this, often under-utilised park
